Below are the criteria for taking a course at Great Basin College:
- Graduate of a high school that is accredited by a regional accrediting association as defined by the U.S. Department of Education or approved by a state board of education or other appropriate state educational agency.
- Recipient of a high school certificate or equivalency (GED).
- 18 years of age or older.
- Transfer student in good standing from another college or university.
Admission to GBC does not mean a student would have unrestricted entry to any course or program. Some courses and programs may have additional admission requirements. Students who need basic skills instruction may be required to enroll in developmental coursework prior to enrolling in some GBC courses.
Students may be required to take a placement test prior to registering to determine the appropriate courses for enrollment.

- Start by either searching for the course you are interested in or by creating an account.
- Once you find a course, hit “add class.” This will direct you to sign in or create an account.
- After you have created an account, complete the student consent form. You will need to agree to these items at GBC prior to being registered.
- Next you will complete the enrollment form. If you are an NV resident, you can upload supporting documentation.
- Great Basin College will review your registration request for review. If approved, you will receive emails within 24-48 business hours with information on how to access the course.
After your request has been approved, you will receive a Great Basin College user ID and instructions on how to access MyGBC - the Great Basin College student portal. From here, you can access your course and pay your bill.
After your request has been approved, and you have accessed MyGBC, you will be able to follow instructions on that site to pay your bill.
